Another great comment just received from Kathryn -
"Oprah says (according to my friends) that 60 is the new 40. No it is not. 60 is 60; 40 is 40; 80 is 80 and when you are dead you are dead !!! Why fight it?"
I love what you are doing, and although I'm only 45, I fully intend to celebrate the aging process. One big issue for me is hair colour. I love to see women enjoying the greying process, and there were perhaps a few too many obvoiusly hair dyed ladies on your page, who were maybe letting the side down? What do you think?

Hi Beth, thanks for posting. I also love it when women don't dye their hair, but I am not sure I agree with you that there are 'too many obviously hair dyed ladies' on this page. There appears to be quite a bit of grey hair in the photos and I wouldn't know who does or doesn't dye their hair.
I guess like make up, where do we draw the line? . For me its when it comes to surgical intervention. If women want to wear make up or let their hair be grey or pink, that's fine by me.

I think the reason I have a problem with dying hair is that it is a deliberate attempt to hide the aging process. I don't mind if someone wants to dye their hair green, or purple or something, but if they dye it to cover grey, well that is a statement in favour of their younger self,

Yes, I would agree with that.
I still think there is plenty of grey and natural hair on these photos :)
Great project. I am part of a small textile group called Women of the Cloth and we are all over 50. We are lively, dynamic artists and makers - we love using fibre and cloth to express ourselves and feel we are only just beginning to explore the possibilities of our creativity, at an age when we are starting to have more time for such things. None of us dye over our grey hair, have any teeth veneers, botox or anything else. We are happy with ourselves the way we are - so there!! Will try and get the others to send you photos of themselves - I will upload one of myself.

Thank you Carol. I will check out your group and would be particularly interested as I used to use machine embroidery for many of my rants (see here: www.screaminglulu.com)
Do get those photos sent to me please!
Many thanks again :)

Yes, I color my hair at 59. It's not because I try to hide my age, it's because I like the way it brings the color out in my skin. I have "big hair", it influences my apperance...So I ask, why do women cut or stye their hair? Coloriis just another form of self expression.

Yup, I can understand that Jae. I've got grey coming through and if my hair was totally grey I think I'd love it. I almost had it dyed grey for my 60th as a statement, but chickened out :)
